In smile design, and before focusing attention on the teeth, it is necessary for me to evaluate the factors that make up facial composition. Examining you from the front and from the side, including analysis of the position of your eyes, nose, chin, and lips allows me to identify the reference points and lines that are indispensable in esthetic smile rehabilitation.
Your facial features have an important influence on the perception of your individual's personality. Certain physical traits are in fact often correlated with precise psychological characteristics. Analysis of these features is made using horizontal and vertical reference lines, which allow correlation of your face and teeth in space.
While designing your smile, it is very important to also evaluate different aspects of your facial composition as they relate to the current and future position of your teeth and gums. Facial analysis is composed of an examination detailing various views and angles:
From The Front:
1. Horizontal Reference Lines: Used to establish a parallel relationship between your bite and the lines between your eyes and lip corners
2. Vertical Reference Lines: Used to reestablish the vertical symmetry necessary between the front teeth and the surrounding lips
3. Facial Proportions: Used to reestablish a correct vertical dimension between the lower third of your face and your teeth
From the Side:
1. Profile: Used to reestablish a natural dominance of your front teeth
